The benefit of Black Belt initiatives

The main advantage of Black Belt projects is that they achieve more impactful results. Green Belt projects tend to be focused on a single department. Green Belts drive often smaller Lean Six Sigma initiatives and tend to work with smaller, more localised groups. Black Belts on the other hand are the true experts of the methodology. Their projects often include multiple departments with several stakeholders and contribute significantly to annual goals. They hold more of a leadership type of role, rather than the typical project management duties of a Green Belt. Black Belt knowledge is more effective in larger organisations which face more complex challenges and issues.

About the Green Belt to Black Belt course

Elevate your understanding of Lean Six Sigma to a new level. Become a Continuous Improvement leader and serve as expert during Lean Six Sigma projects. The Green Belt to Black Belt course is the ideal choice to reach the highest echelons of the methodology.

The effectiveness of Lean Six Sigma Black Belts stems from the ability to help everyone save time. Time is always in short supply. But by refining processes, creating shared routines and by changing how people deal with hurdles at work, Lean Six Sigma practitioners can save incredible amounts of time. Black Belts learn how to deconstruct and rebuild processes, learn how to involve others in Continuous Improvement and how to improve the working standard for everyone.

As a Black Belt, you now possess the knowledge to analyse and interpret process statistics with the help of tools such as Minitab. The insights gained by using such tools allow for incredibly effective process improvements.

In the next section, we highlight what specifics the course will offer.

Costs

The path to becoming certified as a Black Belt according to the ISO 18404 standards requires you to complete both a theory course and an in-field Lean Six Sigma project. The theory course takes place over the course of multiple days and is supported by a full digital suite of preparation materials. For the project you will receive coaching and project review from an experienced Lean Six Sigma expert.

If circumstances do not allow for a project during the same timeframe as the theory course, it is possible to start with theory only and to move on to your project at a later point in time.

Return-on-investment

Results and cold, hard facts are often the best way to justify a purchase. Our courses are no different, and deliver said results without fail. After having trained countless of people in the Lean Six Sigma methodology, our findings are as follows: Black Belt projects generate extra revenue and/or save costs which can exceed amounts with more than 5 figures. With a project taking approximately 3 months, it is even possible to carry out multiple projects a year.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Green Belt vs Black Belt

The main difference is the scope of your projects. Green Belt projects are usually aimed at solving issues that affect a small part of a single department. Black Belt projects tend to tackle long-standing, complex issues that cross departmental lines. The responsibilities of a Green Belt align with those of a project manager. Black Belts carry more responsibilities and take a more active, leading role where they direct other Green Belts during projects.

How does the ‘Services’ course differ from the ‘Manufacturing’ course?

The Services course is most fitting for those employed in transactional fields such as general administration, logistics, finance, HR etc. The ‘Manufacturing’ course is most fitting for those involved with mass production, machinery, factories and automation. Of course, those who complete the Manufacturing course can still carry out projects in the aforementioned transactional fields.

I find statistics a daunting topic, is a Lean Six Sigma training still for me?

The Green Belt course has very little statistics content, as opposed to our Black Belt course. Yet even the Black Belt courses have designed to start at the very basics, on the assumption that our students aren’t familiar with anything related to statistics. We realise the idea of working with statistics can sound somewhat intimidating, but our trainers have helped thousands of students understand (and find their interest in) statistics. Additionally, we offer complementary courses and several videos on our MyTraining™ platform that will help you prepare for, or repeat, specific exercises.

Do you offer any evening- or weekend training?

The Lean Six Sigma Company strives to organise its courses course during normal working hours.

This is a conscious choice in order to avoid interfering with the private lives of our students and to get students used to the idea of working with Lean Six Sigma during typical working hours, and continue this habit once they complete the course.

However, some local exceptions apply. Please reach out to to the helpdesk in your region if you have any questions

Do you offer training in other languages?

More information about our worldwide presence can be found on our theleansixsigmacompany.eu worldmap page, here you will find in which countries we are currently active and offer course.
